@mecscomms is recruiting 4 x Access Network Planners to work for a Global IT, Cloud, Telecoms Carrier & Network service provider. The role will be fully remote based, working from home. The Network Planner will be responsible for the day to day planning, provisioning, delivery & order management process for core transmission, fibre & access network infrastructure and circuit orders. We are looking for applicants with a wide range of Fixed, Wireless & IP network planning & provisioning experience across carrier grade networks encompassing WAN, SDH, Transmission, Fibre, xWDM, HTC, FTTP, FTTH technologies.

Location: UK wide– work from home – fully remote working
Rate: £17.00 per hour inside IR35
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9.00 - 17.30
Duration: 24 months+ contract
Security Clearance: SC or BPSS level clearance (or eligibility for clearance) is essential

Overview:
New opportunity for 2 Access Network Planning Engineers to support the planning & provisioning of customer & OLO orders for this global tier 1 Carrier. The role will be responsible for planning, network capacity & the delivery of orders, ensuring all parties involved in the supply chain achieve due date & lead time targets.
Responsibilities:
• Validate order forms in the inventory management systems
• Determine the best method of connecting to the transmission network & terminating port
• Allocate network capacity at the selected POP site
• Determine hardware, cabling, multiplexes or cards requirements
• Populate Amdocs systems with the services and features required for the order
• Analyze capacity augmentation & optimization to prevent network bottlenecks
• Handle escalations & resolve planning related issues
• Respond to customer or OLO enquires
• Ensure timely & cost effective provisioning of order
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots and resolves problems
• Meet SLA targets for new orders
Candidate profile:
The ideal candidate will have had previous experience within a Access Network Planning Engineer role working on network deployment projects for a leading Telecom, Internet, ISP or hosting company. You will have a broad understanding of Telecom & service provider technology, products and services whereby your skillset & experience is likely to include some or all of the following:
• Understand a variety of Wide Area Network (WAN) based products and services across voice, data, connectivity and transmission infrastructures for fixed, wireless & IP networks.
• Basic understanding of telecom standards & protocols
• Any experience with SOM, Amdocs Ordering (CRM), Cramer, MORI or COMMS is ideal but not essential
• Experience of network planning activity for the order management process
• Familiarity with network capacity & traffic management principles
• Circuit allocation & provisioning
• Coordination skills and a logical approach
• Good communication skills, both verbal & written
• Computer literate with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (email, word, excel)
• It is essential for the successful individual to consent to BPSS (Basic Check) and SC level security clearance checks.
