@mecscomms is hiring a remote based - home working, Senior Cloud Enterprise Architect to work for a global IT, ICT, Technology & Communications managed service provider. You’ll provide technical consultation, subject matter expertise & leadership in the formation, development & execution of the Cloud solutions service portfolio & product roadmap. This includes taking the strategic, operational & technical lead in the specification, design, development, deployment & management of core hosting infrastructure underpinning all Cloud Computing services. I’m keen to hear from those with core infrastructure, network, server, Azure, AWS, GCP, vCloud VMware, vSphere, vCloud, Citrix, XenApp experience.

Purpose:          Design, deliver & manage a robust hosted cloud infrastructure environment which allow for the maximum penetration of market opportunities & commercial success. Provide technical leadership to cloud platform engineering teams & partner product teams to grow the cloud computing category. Lead cloud enterprise architecture design for major customers & provide SME & consultation to senior management teams.

Overview:

 

The senior Cloud Enterprise Architect will be responsible for orchestrating the development & implementation of the core infrastructure which underpins the Cloud solutions portfolio within a managed service provider environment. You’ll contribute to the definition of products, processes, standards & operational plans, leading teams to develop, deliver & maintain the Cloud solutions portfolio. Through your technical superiority you’ll provide SME & consultation to senior management teams & act as Lead Enterprise Architect for the most complex of customer engagements.

 

Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate will work closely with Sales in customer engagements taking on the role of Cloud evangelist. You’ll also spearhead research & development activities in addition but not limited to:

 

  • Research to identify emerging technologies & trends that may affect the cloud adoption

 

  • Lead strategic shaping activities for cloud transformation

 

  • Oversee Proof of Concept involving new technology patterns using cloud services

 

  • Technical authority for hosting / cloud platform  & architectural adherence

 

  • Ensure commercial adherence for all technical decisions

 

  • Police & audit licensing, ensuring declarations to vendors are accurate & correct

 

  • Production & design of high-level plans: Service offerings, roadmap & designs 

 

  • Manage, maintain & develop Cloud platforms & services to ensure service continuity

 

  • Work with the Cloud Services Architect Manager to manage Security / Business risks

 

  • Physical & Virtual platform Lifecycle Management to ensure our hosting / cloud platforms & services remain operational, efficient & are aligned to product requirements

 

  • Escalation point for Cloud services related issues or queries

 

  • Oversee the Service Delivery management of the Cloud Service Department

 

  • Produce costing model, technical documentation & commercials for all Cloud products

 

  • Oversee the Cloud Service Technical management’s running of the day-to-day engineering operation

 

  • Working with the CTO to define a strategy for the Cloud Services department & systems

 

  • Manage the implementation of agreed Cloud strategy 

 

  • Adherence to all relevant legal, regulatory & ISO-based Policies, SOPs, Codes of Conduct, Handbooks, & Process Workflows

 

  • Develop & maintain strong relationships with key partners to develop proactive engagements

 

  • Oversee maintenance contracts & renewals 

 

  • Ensure commercial governance, accountability & reporting is in place

 

Candidate profile:

 

Candidates must have previous & similar Cloud Enterprise Architect experience. You’re likely to be an accredited Azure, AWS, GCP architect / practitioner who’s worked for a Managed Hosting, Cloud, Systems / Network Integrator, Telco, Technology, IT or similar managed service provider. You must be able to demonstrate consulting & systems integration capabilities whilst maintaining as hands on approach technically. Your experience is likely to include as much of the following as possible:

 

  • Cloud computing services, infrastructures, technologies & transformations

 

  • Developing technology roadmaps for public, private & hybrid clouds
  • Architecting & designing large cloud enterprise solutions

 

  • Complex Data Centre environments

 

  • Advanced technical knowledge of cloud concepts (certifications from Azure, AWS or GCP ideal)

 

  • Virtualization including VMware, vSphere, vCloud, Citrix, XenApp

 

  • Core networks WAN, VLANs, BGP, DNS, MPLS, Cyber security & firewall

 

  • Storage such as EMC SANs 

 

  • Microsoft server products & platforms 

 

  • DevOps principles, entailing cooperation & alignment

 

  • Licensing model knowledge (SPLA/VSPP) 

 

  • Certification Body knowledge (ISO 27001 / 9001 / PCI) 

 

  • Leadership or supervision of projects, teams, resources, partners etc.

 

  • Coaching, development & mentoring

 

  • Advanced written & verbal communication skills
