@mecscomms is currently recruiting for an IP Network Analyst to work for a global telecoms carrier and network provider on a 6 month contract assignment. Working hours: Standard hours, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm
Location: Bracknell, Berkshire
Security Clearance: SC Level (Must possess or be eligible for clearance)
Duration: 6 months

An opportunity has arisen for a Network Engineer or NOC Analyst to take ownership for analysing, tracking and raising predictive incident tickets based on network alarms, monitoring systems and prediction tools. Utilising your technical experience within the IP domain, you will assess prediction reports and filter alarms into critical and non-critical categories.
You will be tasked with monitoring the predictive incident, ticket & network management systems to ensure any faults / network outages are logged correctly in line with company SLA’s and in conjunction with ITIL processes & procedures and in are turn fixed & resolved to ensure minimal impact to services. You will work closely with the NOC teams to investigate, diagnose, carry out root cause analysis and resolve predictive incidents, acting as a single point of contact for all related queries.
As Network Analyst you will:
# Monitor, track and record improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs)
# Contribute to the set-up and rollout of predictive incident monitoring processes
# Create reports for monitoring and tracking of predicted incidents
# Manage raw data from NMS systems and compare to prediction analytics tools
# Identify business needs for new processes, rules and tools from available network data
To be considered for this opportunity candidates should possess previous network support, troubleshooting, network monitoring, network analysis, incident, problem or fault management, or similar IP network engineering experience, ideally within a NOC environment.
It is essential for candidates to currently hold OR be eligible to pass BPSS (Basic Check) and SC level security clearance checks.
Candidates should have some of the following technical experience:
# Technical understanding of any of the following IP vendors: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel, Nortel, Adva
# Network monitoring, alarm correction and fault troubleshooting support experience
# Experience in testing L2/L3 devices (PE Routers), CPEs
# Good Understanding of TCP / IP, OSI Layer Protocol suites.
# Good understating on WAN protocols and troubleshooting
# Experience with Routing Protocols (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF ,ISIS, BGP), Policy base routing
# Basic understanding of transmission technology: PDH, SDH, DWDM, CWDM
# Knowledge of incident and problem management
